Institutions come into beginning when concerned people recognize a human need and respond to meet that need. This was done through a group of committed individuals, and that’s how Reynolds Memorial Hospital began. When 29 years old Orpha Speicher arrived in India, she came with a dream to ‘Start’ a ‘Mission Hospital’ to cater to the need of women and children. In June 1938, after two years of completing of language studies, Dr. Speicher arrived in Basim (Now Washim) she was given a school building full of benches and school equipment to start a Hospital. The building was definitely not meant for use as a Hospital, but it was a place to begin. Right from the beginning it was to be called “Reynolds Hospital”.
